Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Its been a Good Week!

I have not posted alot on the forum, but I thought I would share this with people who would appreciate it. I have been in the market for a another new bike, this time Titanium. I wanted something durable, light, comfortable, and that would last forever. I knew that I was going to be buying a used bike, (budget reasons), which was another reason I wanted Ti, I figured less chance of me breaking it since I won't have a warrenty.
I was real close to pulling the trigger on a 1999 Merlin Extralight w/ all new D/A 10, the guy wanted more than I wanted to spend, but I had convinced myself that it was worth it. Then I came across a local guy with a 2005 Serotta Legend Ti w/ D/A 10 and Race X Lites for only $175.00 more. I went and checked out the bike, it was perfect!, and the guy was my exact height and build, more perfect!!. The guy was super nice, said if a have any problems that he would be more than happy to help me out as far as warrenty issues. So I bought the bike, Damn its nice!! have only ridden about forty miles so far and can't wait to do more. Sorry no pics yet.

I am also proud to say I lasted for 75 miles today with a great group of guys that were Cat 2 and 3 riders that frequent Lakeside Bicycles in Lake Oswego, talk about a group of giant thighs and calves, very intimidating. They were all extremely nice to allow a very green guy like me to join in their ride and pace lines. I even took my turn upfront, twice, but spent most of my time hanging towards the middle and back. Thanks to a recent post from Dinoshepard is how I found out about these guys.

Thanks Blandin, I have a digital camera on the way. While I am happy as all get out about the Serotta, I will have a hard time parting with the Jamis. It has been an excellent bike, I love the ride of 853 steel. I am having a hard enough time convincing my wife the need for three bikes let alone four. I will never get to seven bikes like you have Blandin - you are a lucky man!
