Riding in the Carneros region of Napa
Anyone ever ride there? I go to Napa a lot and I'm thinking of taking my bike and going for a short ride. The whole Silverado/Yountville scene really turns me off. I spent a lot of time in Carneros as a kid, but I can remember what the roads are like.
BTW, Carneros is an area soutwest of the city of Napa sort of between Napa and Sonoma. It's a mix of rolling hills, vinyards and wetlands. Very few trees.

If I have only about an hour to ride, I like to do the 20-mile loop in the hills west of Napa. Starting at the intersection of Redwood and Dry Creek roads, I head north on Dry Creek. When Dry Creek meets Oakville Grade, I go left to Mount Veeder. Then I take Mount Veeder back to the start. It's mostly rolling, with a nice little climb on Mount Veeder. I've included a map below.
Atlas Peak is a nice little out-and-back climb, also. It's over by the country club, east of Napa.

But thanks for the map, I may give that ride a try some time.

Napa County has a nice map you can pick up for free from local shops. This looks like the closest I've found online:

Here's the Sonoma County website:

This website has more suggestions for Sonoma County:

I did the Tour of Napa Valley last year which included the Mt. Veeder climb-nice ride. East of the valley in Chiles Valley is also nice. I'll be doing some rides over there to get ready for the Davis Double, this year's big target for me.
I'm just up the road from you. PM me if you'd be interested in riding sometime...
