Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Several configurations here... from lightest to heaviest... the first couple of pics show a superlight Kestrel EMS SL bar in combination with WCS 26.0 Stem that I could not get to hold without slipping, so I am back to running a WCS OS/WCS Classic OS Alu bar combination. I have several wheel sets. Also note factory cables and housing... Tried Nokons, Tried PowerCordz... both did not work to my satisfaction.

@ 12.5 lbs w/ Zipp 202 Tubs, WCS Post, C64 Saddle, B-T-P Cages, Keo Ti Pedals

@ 13.4 lbs w/ Custom Zipp 280 Pave/DT/AmClassic, 06 Arionne Braided, Record Post

@ 14.5 lbs w/ 06 Campy Eurus Wheelset, Elite Pateo Cages

Some other highlights... Extralight ScalHead Headset @ 54g

C64 Saddle @ 83g (totally flexes... and quite comfortable)

WCS OS setup w/ Classic Bend Bars (Tried and True) Tuned with Blue Ti Bolts

Stronglight Pulsion CT2 tuned with SRP Alu Ring Bolts, Record FD Tuned to 66g

06 Fizik Arione Braided Carbon Rails w/ Record 31.6 Post

Zipp 202s with 06 Zero G Calipers

O6 Campy Eurus Clinchers, Record Ti Cassette, KMC X10SL Chain@222g

I have industry connections... and do a lot of marketing work within the biz. The CR1 is rock solid on the road... but light does come with a price. This is actually my second one. I had a CR1 Limited last season, that was cracked in a pretty good crash where it took an impact. That incident however would have taken out any carbon frame.

However... Scott USA's warranty is fantastic, and the frame was replaced with this 06 model.

Honestly, for the money... this is some of the best technology out there. The only frame I would consider otherwise would be a Parlee Z3Csl

12.5lbs? Geez. That's a nice looking build, I like the all-black look.

Can we get some pics of it on the scale?

I hate to rain on any parades, but I think that upgrading bolts is silly, as is riding with zipp 202 tubulars on a regular basis.

I dont mean to sound like an elitist ass, but I ride too many miles to worry about super lightweight components. I'd probably ride the last one, but with a set of michelin carbons, regular bolts, and a steel centaur cassette. It'd be 200grams heavier, and 200x more durable.

I only have a gram scale here... however, I've weighed it out on the hanging scale at my LBS.

Click here for a bunch of pics of parts on the scale

Give me a few min, and I can post a spread sheet in grams

I hear you, and honestly I feel the same... this is mostly a project build... as for everyday use, I'm on my Eurus wheelset with Veloflex Pave's. That KMC chain is also light, but will likely stretch like a rubber band in 1000 miles. I have a Chorus Steel Cassette that will end up on my eurus, and the Ti will be on my Zipp 280s. The 202s are actually on loan for the project. As for the Ti bolts in the stem... they cut 16g off the stem... and I had them in the bin... so what the hell.

Here is a pic of my racebike

Did they replace the frame for free? If so wow, that's a heck of a crash replacement policy....

That fork looks like kinda funky, not in a good way. Also, the crank being hollow in the middle makes about zero sense, but obviously it's light. Kudos to not having a fairly stretched out low position. The real question is can you ride it?

In the first pic, are those the Tune bottle cages? If so, how do they work?

Do you have weights for the 3 different wheelsets used in those photos?

If I could afford it, I'd try a set like this... sub-1400 grams. Maybe I would use slightly heavier rims than the AC350s, for a 1450g build.

DT 240S hubs / CX-Ray spokes / AC350s
