Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lancaster PA covered bridge ride

Has anyone here done it. I am thinking of doing it this year. I know its all the way in August, but am trying to work out my century schedule early. If you have done it, what should I expect? I have been to Lancaster before, but when I was a kid, so is the ride as beautiful as they say it is. Also, I can';t seem to find last years route, is it normally the same. If so where can I find a map?

LOL, being from Adams County, my normal route takes me past 4 horse farms. Road apples are a occupational hazard around here.

A whole group of us on BikeForums did this ride last year. Here are the threads:

https://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycling/132310-pictures-lancaster-pa-metric.html

It was a very fun ride and I'm guessing most of us that did it will be back this year. It really was beautiful. A little warm, but that's August for ya. Support was good as well. I attached the cue sheet for you to take a look at.

The MS society runs a MS150 ride in the area in June (https://www.nationalmssociety.org/pae...ail.asp?e=6653). This ride is very well supported.

Another good PA metric is the Covered Bridges ride in October run by the Central Bucks County Bike Club, usually in mid October.

Lot's of BF members go on these rides, so it's easy to hook up with folks.

Although an active member of both Central Bucks Bike Club and Suburban Cyclists Unlimited, I'm totally objective, so I can also recommend SCU's Quad County Metric on May 7, 2006, Green Lane (Montgomery County), PA (www.suburbancyclists.org). The CBBC Covered Bridges Ride is, I think, October 15, 2006.

I was one of the crew that did the ride last year and it was a blast to ride with a crew of BF guys and gals. I know I will be going back again this year to hook up with the same crew...hope to see you there.
