American vs 'European' sizing

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

American vs 'European' sizing

I'm looking at getting some new jerseys online. I understand that some brands fit differently than others.

Can you guys what to expect generally the difference between American and European brands? Also recommend some good sites to buy clothes?

Many Euro brands have the same chest size as USA brands, but Euro jerseys tend to be a lot more tapered than USA jerseys. If you have a traditional cyclist build (thin waist and thin arms), then Euro jerseys will fit great if you get the chest size right. If you have a beer belly, then you're better off sticking with USA brands.

american fit is for guys who popped steroids to play HS football, or don't want to admit to themselves that they're no longer really a medium but a large.

euro fit is for normal people, so if you're a medium you buy a medium.

a European medium should be snug fitting, correct for staying aero on the bike. A European large won't look silly large either.
