Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anybody else go out for a ride today in the mid-atlantic? It was awesome today, I went out and did an easy 35 after class and felt great doing it!

Missed it, rode in the morning in the pouring rain though before work, it was great! It was warm enough that I never got a chill even though I was soaked through. Hopefully no rain in the morning tomorrow for my pre-work sunday hammerfest since it is supposed to be much cooler......40's BRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Yup, the weather in the NYC area has been awesome this winter, I've done quite a lot of riding this past January -- we deserve a break after the kind of winter we had last year.

If this is the result of global warming -- 60 degrees in January in NYC -- I say warm away.

You do realize that some climate scientists give a high probability for most of NYC to be under water should global warming continue?

They'd probably do what they did in New Orleans...build a wall around the city. Personally, i'd never live there (NO)..seeing boats go by 20 feet above my house is kinda scary. Eventually, the river will sway back to its natural course and, well, the hurricane will only look like a sprinkling when that happens - the shift of the river is overdue by 10 years i think, the US Engineers have tried to keep it out. Did you know that the dam or whatever it is that holds the river at bay is falling apart? they send cameras down the side and notice that the whirlpools have torn chunks out of it...

It has been a bizarre winter here indeed. November was colder than January....it has led to some rather surprising rides. I never thought I'd be able to commute to work on my roadie in January...I love it!!

Cheers,

Brian

Not to mention make your taxes higher, as if they aren't high enough in New Jersey

I don't doubt it. It'll cost a lot of money to dispose of the corpses of all the New Yorkers that are going to wash up in Jersey.

I wanted to go out on Friday but didn't get a chance, had to stay at work. Bummer. I was hoping to get my at least once a month ride in shorts in. This seemed to be my best hope for February. January had multiple opportunities, and I took advantage of one. Feb is always tougher.
