Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Who has one for their Campy group, and how well do they run? I got one for my upcoming build, and since the price was good, I couldn't pass it up. However, I haven't seen too many reviews on them. Just curious.

I have a Miche 10-sp cassette. It is chrome-plated steel. I don't know if it is a Primato, though.

It does run well. I can't tell a difference between it and a Chorus cassette in that respect. Some of the chrome plating has worn off, though, and rather early. That may have been caused, or not, by a skipping chain problem I had, 30 miles from home, where I had no choice but to ride it in.

Since each cog is individual, and not doubled with a carrier, I have more choice about cog selection, and can replace one worn cog if needed. This, and the price, about half of Chorus, were why I got it.

Another good option is Veloce, for the same reasons. It may have more durable plating than the Miche.

The Veloce does have the satin nickel finish which is apparently a little more durable. However, the chrome on the Miche is beautiful. I also got the Miche for the same reasons. Seperate cogs, and the weight is similar to Centaur/Chorus. I haven't used it yet, but was wondering how well it shifted, and how long they lasted in comparison. It was only $48 for an 11-23 cassette, so if it wears out in a couple years, I suppose I could just get a Veloce, or just change out the cogs I need to get it up to snuff. Either way, it seems worth giving it a shot.

This is wear I got it from. The price was a few bucks less at the time.

I have Miche cassette but it is 9s 12-25. shift is smooth and looks great.
I only have 3000km on it so I can't tell you about the wearing.

It looks like they've updated their product line recently. I was looking into these a couple of months ago and the only info I could find was that their cassettes weighed a ton(like over 400g) but were very durable and inexpensive. Now it looks like they've got a new website with more products.

There is a race version called the Supertype cassette. 9spd weighs 114 grams, no kidding, I've used one. Great for race day. It'll wear a little quicker but for about $175-$200! It's made of ergal aluminum, heat treated and anodized. All the cogs are seperate too, first two positions are steel for better wear. Can't beat that! You can get it from Red Rose Imports or a local dealer who has an account with them.
