Amen Rad..................ladies of BF who frequent here. I am not a sexist nor do I think I must outrun you. I love the riding view wherever I may be. Being in the rear is only my way of saying...........I have your back! Al.............get a road bike, ride to learn, and learn to ride. You will figure it out, if you don't, I hope you will like riding alone.

18 yrs old...new roadie and already a jerk. What on Earth made you try to pass her in the first place, rather than just let her get her ride in? Some people don't like being annoyed by kids just trying to show off.
Sorry about the rant...blizzard's got me cranky

A little cheeky? You post a picture of your abs....and you want to be taken seriously? You don't pedal with your abs. Every response from you has been snippish. Come back after you've logged some miles and learned some manners please.
I see this is your first day as a member, and first thread here....I would say that this post would make you a troll. Have a nice life sonny.

I seriously doubt so, cuz when I rode past her I saw that she had a tummy! And Im quite fit, I can do more than 20pull ups in 1 set, I doubt she could...:-x but maybe she has better stamina
She was probably pregnant, too.
Oh, yes. You really do suck.

The really sad and humiliating part is that she probably didn't notice you at all, just kept at her pace and you still got dropped!
You need to do way more pullups

Were you riding a Trek MTB? Was she riding a bike other than Trek? If so, there's your answer!
If you don't get it, (Trek sucks).

I just love when punk kids try to show me what's what.
It's not a race until both of you agree to make it one. Last Friday, I was coming home from work, and two boys much like the OP decided to issue me a challenge. I was feeling pretty sprightly, because, it was Friday, and I had recently cleaned out my backpack, and I'd had a really nice lunch. So I looked at the two boys, both riding hardtail mountain bikes, and considered. I had probably about 10 years on them, and my bike had about 30 years and maybe 5lb on theirs, but my wheels were considerably taller and skinnier, and I ride every day, so I figured, what the heck--the kids wanna race, I'll race, if they blow by me, then they blow by me, if I blow by them, they were dusted by a chick on a Schwinn Suburban with a white plastic basket on the handlebars.
As it turns out, the one kid stuck with me for about two blocks, the other kid, for about 50'. The first kid shouted back to his buddy, "Hey look, Shawn, I'm keeping up with this guy," and which point I was duty bound to point out to the kid that I was, indeed, not a guy, but a girl. That's around the time my young opponent called the race and went back to his buddy.
The point of the story being, don't underestimate a chick on a bike, especially one who seems to know her own business.

hey hey dont hate on the kids.
everytime ive tried to race with one of the "older" guys in the park they either ignore me or we both have a fun little race. which i get my ass kicked sometimes...
before i got into road biking i did the 5 burough bike ride in NYC on my BMX and stayed with a road bike for a short bit(like 200 yards). the guy congradulated me
this guy isnt bad cause hes a kid... hes just a sexist
btw.. i can barely do 4 pull-ups and i can probly beat you on a bike... i have a small gut too.

And people wonder why young riders have a bad name...
I can only wonder, if you were to put a nice 2 hour+ ride on a real road bike how sore you would be after? Regardless of your "ripped" body, the muscles needed to keep your compsure on a road bike is completely different. I've been riding since I was 16, I'm 18 now, and when I first started I was in pretty good shape upper body wise, and went from a mountain bike to a road, and after the first ride my upper body was killing me. Moral of the story? Pull-ups and push-ups don't mean squat. Oh btw, if she was good looking why try and drop her? You get more chances with honey than salt. (Analogy adapted slightly)

I read something somwhere (don't you love my informative sources) that said top women were 10% behind top men physically due to testosterone etc etc
that means there's women out there that can sustain 450 watts for an hour. eek.

Alrite, so here's the story. I went to the nearby park to cycle for around 2hours plus and got bored and decided to go home. Then I saw this hot female cyclist infront of me, so I thought to myself ' hey man lez overtake her its gonna be fun'. She was riding a roadbike, with full gear on. I was riding my aggresor which my casual wear, T shirt shorts and slippers.
She was like 50meters ahead of me, so I slipped into gear7(max) and peddalled like mad and got ahead of her. Then I gave her smirk , and then after a minute of leading I kinda slowed down then she overtook me...ugh. Then I continued trailing her for more than 3km before losing sight of her...I was devastated man!!!!!!!
Do I suck or what?

Secondly , if you think getting dropped by a chick is humliating , try falling at 0mph because you can't clip out while dozens of chicks from a nearby girls school are laughing at you and your jersey is soaking up all the coffee which was in a packet hanging from your handlebars a few seconds ago.
Thirdly , don't mess with female bikers.
fourthly , never try to pass a female biker.
I think you suck , but that's because i am just jealous of your abs.

noone cares about your abs in this sport... lets see the twig-like quads you are sportin... that may answer a lot... but aside from that, and in conjunction with what everyone else is sayin... there is no photo you can show us that will show how strong your lungs are or how long your legs will last.
I ride with a couple ladies that look like your typical couch-house wives... they also just happen to teach the spin classes at my gym and can whoop me and most of the other casual riders off the road. Some people just don't thin up and lean out like pro cyclists when they ride a lot.
Some people aren't 18 anymore.
Rock

Think about what you are saying you think that as a man you are stronger the a woman because your muscles are bigger right... wrong. You may be able to lift heavier loads and produce more power over a short time. But it is the skinny well tone ones who can ride longer at a high power out put.
You crank it up 400w for 5 min... I stick with 150w over the next 5 hrs. I am a "skinny guy" who has learned to enjoy the view from the backside.
BTW who are you trying to impress with your picture uh???

This thread is turning into a world record attempt at ego ************
Blarg.
And by the way, even if you looked like this,
(barf barf barf)
doesn't mean that you could drop anyone.
Work the bike more instead of your man ego, and yo'll get better.

I was riding along a few weeks ago with a friend of mine and we caught up with this guy in his late 40s I'd say. We passed him and a few miles later he comes charging up behind us and passes us. I pick it up a bit and get on his wheel and hang there at 25-26mph for a few miles (this is into a headwind) and I finally just let him go. We were right at the end of a 50 mile ride so we were feeling a little winded anyway...hmm, that sounds like a rationalization doesn't it?
