Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Whither the Vittoria Open Corsa CX skinwall?

So I recently bought a bike that came with a pair of old Open Corsa CXs, and compared to the cheap tires on my old bike, these tires are freakin' smackdown awesome. Now I know that tires have probably progressed in their performance since these were the gold standard, but the problem is that my bike is a classic lugged steel job with a quill stem and all-natural aluminum (not black) components (rant on the non-availability of aluminum-colored aluminum components coming soon; stay tuned), so these newer whiz-bang tires with colored accents, or even all-black tires just don't work with the classic aesthetic scheme.

So my question is, can anyone recommend a 700x23 tire similar in performance to the Open Corsa CX (fast, light weight (folding), supple, high thread count) that has gumwalls or skinwalls (and to clarify, Conti sidewalls don't do it for me)? . . . OR . . . can anyone direct me to where I might purchase some NOS Open Corsas? Thanks!

Veloflex? Gommitalia? THey both make great tires that fit your bill...

I rode the Pave for a while and I found it to be a rather nice if delicate tire.

Do not expect to get more than 500 miles from Vittoria Open Corsas. Great tire in every respect but durability.

Why not just buy some new Open Corsa's from whatever website you prefer? They are great tires and they last way longer than some have stated. I routinely get 2000 miles out of them. By the way, the Vittoria Diamante Pro is also a great tire.

That would be preferable, but I cannot find a black tire with tan sidewalls anywhere, most of the newer Vittorias are every color but that. I do believe that there is a black/tan Evo CX out there that they maybe don't make anymore, but I can't find anywhere to order it.
