Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My CAAD7 build is complete! (with pics!)

Well, I haven't said much about this build, but here goes:
2003 Caad7 r2000 frame, full carbon slice fork(incl. dropouts), bonty race lite bars, campy chorus hiddenset, truvativ team stem, Campy Mirage ergos, cannondale brakeset, thomson elite seatpost, tioga spider saddle, Mirage FD, Veloce 9sp RD, mirage 12-23 cassette, truvativ rouleur 50/36 compact crankset w/gigapipe BB, look keo classic pedals, wipperman connex chain, Xero lite XR-1 wheelset, Conti attack/force tires, soon to be collector's item Supergo.com bartape, campy cables&housing, cannondale G10 bottle cages

This project came together over the last 3 months. Built from the ground up with parts from:
3 different LBS's
Nashbar.com
Supergo.com
Ebay.com
Probikekit.com
REI.com

My main objective was to build a lighter bike(than my 19.5# allez comp CR-MO) for fast group rides and the occasional road race.
Bathroom scale weighed out to right around 17#.
Only one carbon fiber part on the entire bike(fork)
Pretty much everything else as light weight alloy as I could find on my budget

Probably will not get to ride it until Wed (forecast high of 50!!)

Nice looking bike, I've never seen that paint scheme of R2000 before. It's very orange! I think you need some orange tortilla chips and salsa to go with it.

Saddle angle? Looks pointed up a bit, but if it agrees with your butt, whatever works.

It is a 2003 frame
https://www.cannondale.com/bikes/03/c...del-3RR2D.html
I haven't ridden it yet, so no fit adjustments have been made yet.
I think it's very NASCAR-like, wouldn't you say?

Now I know where my $100 went...

If you want more orange, I've seen orange bottle cages somewhere, I think they were traditional aluminum alloy anodized in some way.

Very unique color scheme nicely pulled together from the bar tape to the tires. Looks like you had a lot of fun. Congratulations! Now with that being said, what is the saddle all about? Is that comfortable?

I have a SelleSanMarco Aspide on my other bike, so I figure this one should be at least as comfortable as that. I hate squishy padded seats!

Actually, there is very little orange on it, mostly reds and yellow, but the effect is orange. The tires are more yellow than orange in person. (my 3.2 meg camera and *****tee lighting!)

I went with the silver cages for 2 reasons

1. I wanted to incorporate some silver throughout the bike to compliment the crankset
2. I got them for nothing, along with the look pedals (REI gift card , bonus from work! )

I was riding in prospect park the other day and saw a guy with the same bike, but with color matched rims AND hubs.

Your bike is still pretty sweet though....

Yeah, I debated for 2 months on whether to get the Mike Garcia Velocity Aeroheads in either red or yellow, I just didn't have the extra $150 over what the Xero's cost me. Plus the Xero graphics add to the NASCAR effect.

If I see you on it and can catch you, big if there, I am going to bump draft you down the back stretch. Nice bike, really like the yellow tape. Nice touch, the saddle in the same color of yellow would be sweet.

Very very well put together ride there man. Not a huge 'Dale fan, but I like what you've done with that one. Dreaming of the day I can put together the cash for a campy group of my own.
