Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you're looking to purchase the entire groupo, it'll be more expensive than buying everything piece by piece. Don't know, that's just the way it is. Check around for better deals. Bought my 9-speed 105 group (FD, RD, shifters, brakes, crank, Ultegra BB) for $260 by scrounging on nashbar and ebay.

That seems really high for 9sp. 105. I'd expect to pay about that for 10sp. 105.

Like someone said above, you can do better buying pieces seperately. I just took 10mins. and only looked at Nashbar and Performance. I'm sure that spending an hour or so comparing other places I could do much better. Here is what I found:

SHIMANO® 105 Crankset (double) $85
SHIMANO® 105 Bottom Bracket $15
SHIMANO® 105 Cassette $36
SHIMANO® Ultegra Chain $32
SHIMANO® 105 Front Derailleur $26
SHIMANO® 105 Rear Derailleur $36
SHIMANO® 105 Brake Calipers $57
SHIMANO® 105 STI Shift/Brake Levers & Cables $139
Cane Creek headset $50
Total: $476

You might want to check out probikekit.com They sell gruppo for a pretty good price. I remember the ultegras being pretty good. They're located in UK, but people have good feedback with them. Personally, I've never ordered from them because I don't spend enough to offset the $15 shipping charge.

I did the same last year while overhauling my wife's bike to Shimano 105

Thanks, for all the replies. I was surprised to learn ordering the entire group would be more expensive.
