Truck Rack
What do you "Truck People" use to transport your bike? Right now I just lay my bike in the bed very very softly and try to avoid all bumps on the road, but I am not happy about doing this. There was a bike rack that went inthe bed of your truck at nashbar or performance, but it looked like you had to take the front wheel off, is there anything else on the market that allows me to keep the bike in one piece?

Throw the stick!!!!
This is what I use, lets me carry three bikes. Most bedliner have a place where you can slide a 2x4. Just screw the fork mounts to the board and you are ready to go.

I use this the
XPORT Xpress Truck Rack
The people who photo'd the rack obviously never used it as the wheel will not fit with the wheel holder in that position. The wheel needs to go down in the bed of the truck. I search long and hard for a decent solution to keep the bike whole...let me know if you find anything. This one works really good. Just trying to figure out how to lock it down so it won't walk off while I'm on a ride.

My setup is just like LowCel's... even looks like we've got the same lockable fork mounts. My bedliner has grooves that a rear tire fits perfectly into just like it was made for it for an added bonus.

Is that such a problem in you area that someone would really steal your bike rack? That's just low.

I think this would apply anywhere. I don't trust my own mother.

Here is what I did.
These are Thule Low Riders. 20 bucks each.
I attached them with Stainless Steel bolts. I lock the bikes with a good cable lock through the hole in the rack. If I had to do it all over again I would have bought a nice tool box and attached them to it. This is very convienient and I can drive into the garage without the bikes hitting the garage door.

The only drawback I have to this is the fact the front of the bike is up in the elements when traveling. I know I could purchase a cover but I am now thinking of doing like Mariner Fan only into the bottom of the bed to keep them out of the elements and the wind. I would like to see his with the bikes though to get an idea of how high they sit up? Hint, hint!

I used a $49 tailgate rack I bought from Nashbar. It strapped to the tailgate and had two fork mounts. Easy to install and remove afterwards so no permanent installation. But it securely mounted to the tailgate.

If I am transporting more than 1 bike I use the ole 2X6 with Thule low riders attached to it.
However if I am tranporting just my road bike ... which is most of the time I use https://www.recrac.com/
They work great.... and best of all I don't have to mess with taking the front wheel off.
The only draw back in the only work on certain types of truck beds.......
They work on my Ford ranger.
You will need to see if they fit your model of truck.

Delta Cycles has some intereting bike-storage solutions, though some of them are kind of expensive. You could always try this one...

Not my Truck....
I originally put my Yakama roof rack in the bed of the truck but it was a pain to have to remove it every time I needed the truck bed. Plus I was always worried about someone stealing it while I was gone on a ride. That's why I wanted a permanent mount that didn't intrude with the truck bed.

I have a bed cover so I use a hitch mounted rack. This leaves the bed free for carrying other things if need be.
