Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Where to get custom jerseys.

Who is the best custom jersey maker?

I need to get a batch of about ten jerseys for my Tour de Cure team.

Looking for: Cheap, three-pocket, and full zipper.

They're going to be a solid colour, if that helps.

Thanks.

Probably the cheapest would be to get some plain color jerseys from somewhere like Performance, and take them to a local screenprinter. If you wanted to go real cheap you could probably do the iron on transfer sheets that they make to work with ink jet printers. I did it to a sweatshirt in the past and they worked well, but that wasn't jersey material, but it would be cheap.

One of the only companies that will make you a batch of 10 (and for that matter you can mix and match as long as you have 10 "tops" you could do 5 jerseys and 5 wind jackets)...

Champ-sys.com . Short sleeve jerseys are $45 each and LS are $55. They also make literally just about every other piece of kit you could want - that means skinsuits, arm/leg warmers, bib-knicks, hats, CYCLING CAPS, GLOVES, SOCKS, etc. Its pretty rare to find that with one company. I know Voler can't. We use them now but probably won't be next year (if I get my way at least).

Problem with that is we're doing 100 miles, and some of the riders on my team need all the help they can get, so technical fabric and a full zipper are musts.

I understand, just you did say cheap. I have no idea what the quality of their jerseys are, but I do know that they have the 3/4 zipper. Personally I don't want the full zipper, but that is just me.

There is https://www.pactimo.com/ they have a 5 piece minimum order and I believe their price is simular to that of others where the jersey runs aroud $57 for the full zip. You do have to figure in a set up price which I believe will run you around $80.

I'm going through a similar thing right now, looking at getting jerseys (and possibly shorts) made for a bunch of us at the same company that ride together. My research is strongly pointing towards Champion Systems, which has been mentioned eralier. They have flexible ordering, and seem to be used by a fair number of teams including Toyota United. Futhermore, they allow you to request a sample so that you can judge the quality for yourself before ordering. I can't speak to the quality myself, I'm just about to order a sample. Oh did I mention that they are pretty cheap? $45 for jerseys with minimum quantities of only 10, compared to 25 for most of the 'big' players.

Has anyone ordered from Champion systems before? My college club is looking at getting jerseys made to start a race team, and we are either looking at Champion, or Nalini. I have some Nalini stuff, and really like the quality, but Champion has amazing prices, and flexibility to mix and match.

How is the quality for Champion jerseys, and bibs?

I've been the process of placing a custom order. I looked at Champion and was able to check out the quality of the jerseys and bibs when the Toyota Rav4-United Team had a booth set up at the Tour of California. The quality looked to be top-notch. My only concern were that the colors looked matted and not very bright. The Louis Garnaeu kits I have, have nice deep and bright colors.

I talk to someone at Champion and they mentioned that there is no color limit for their custom orders. In other words, you can have as many colors in your jersey and bibs at no extra cost

Champion uses a digital color sublimation which is why you can choose as many colors at no extra cost. I don't know how other companies do color sublimation, but I wonder if the digital sublimation is why the colors don't appear to be as bright.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know squat about color sublimation. Maybe someone here can help out w/ explaining the differences.

Another thing about Champion, is that their jerseys and bibs are made over-seas, which probably another reason they can keep the prices low.

my 2 cents

I have to see what kind of deal my LBS with offer us. They have an agreement with Nalini, and can get us a deal, if we use their shop as a sponsor. I was kind of leaning towards Champion, just because we can get jerseys, and vests included in the 10 minimum.

I talked to someone from Champion, as well as Voler, and after exchanging E-mails and designs, I've decided on Champion for the jerseys, socks and gloves.

They will be solid yellow, with blue graphics.

Thanks, jbhowat (really, I mean it), and everyone else.

Cheap, man, cheap.

Our team can't afford $60 jerseys.

$60 is cheap for a custom jersey .... isn't it? I've paid quite a bit more than that for most of my custom jerseys . . . . and that's probably why I don't have a jersey for every event I've done. Much as I would like to have a full collection of event jerseys, I can't afford it.

Yeah, $60 is cheap for one jersey, but we need like, 10 or 12 jerseys, and gloves, as well as socks.

We are really trying to become a legit team, and even though we broke into the top-10 in our first year, we didn't feel like a team, because we didn't look like one.

We had five people last year, this year we are going to have at least ten riders, and some of our riders are pretty well off (two lawyers, an IT Tech guy, and a bank manager).

That's why we are going with a full kit this year, and because we have the budget to do it, and because it makes us feel good.

They have great pricing and the quality is quite a bit better than Champion.
