Wheel upgrade for 2004 Giant Cypress SX
Being a newbie to this forum and my first technical question, I hope I am posting this in the correct forum.
I ride a 2004 Giant Cypress SX as a general purpose road bike. The stock Xero XSR4s are a bit on the heavy side but have not given me any problems and are quite durable. I want to lose a bit of rotational weight and gain a bit of speed and not lose to much durability. What would be a good wheel upgrade in the $200-$300 price range. Or am I asking too much for the price range and bike?

Whenever someone asks about wheels, we BFers ALWAYS recommend Mike Garcia. Currently there's a thread about a guy's MG wheels right above yours, and apparently he's very much in love. Here's his website: www.oddsandendos.com
Hope it helps!

But the OP specified a price range of $200-$300, so Mike Garcia is out. The best bet would probably be the much vaunted Mavic Open Pro's on Ultegra hubs or maybe the Neuvations.

Wow! thanks for the quick responses. I had that same question on roadbikereview.com but with no responses. I will take a look at the Mavic Open Pros. Another thread mentions the Mavic Aksiums which are a bit cheaper. Is there a lot of difference between the Open Pros and Aksiums?
