Big Sur Marathon and Hwy 1 closure

Big Sur Marathon and Hwy 1 closure
Hi all
The Big Sur Marathon is April 30, 2006. Cal Hwy Patrol will close Hwy 1 from at least Big Sur Village to Carmel which will drastically limit traffic on the southern section as well. Does anyone know how far north on Hwy 1 you can drive as I would like to be dropped at Ventana and ride south to San Luis Obispo area that day. I can't seem to find the closure point at the south end of the Marathon route. Thnx

I would not suggest it for sunday, maybe go sat.
the marathon starts at 6:45am maybe a mile or 2 north of ventana.
