Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey gang,

Anyone going to https://chicagobikeshow.com/ this weekend? I have never been to one of these - worth going from a roadie point of view?

I am going tomorrow afternoon after my group ride. I've heard it's pretty lame, but whatever..go look at some bikes.

It's been crap the last 2 years, but maybe it'll be different this year? Report back and let us know how it is.

They usually have a clearance store on the second level. Last year, it was so much smaller than normal... it only took up half the room. I couldn't believe it. But they sometimes had a trade/swap rooom down the hall with independent bike shops selling their stuff, and that's where you sometimes found some great stuff.

You know how in other industries there are the Marque Industry Shows... Electronics CES (Las Vegas), Automobiles the Geneva and Detroit Auto Show...

What's the biggest bike show in NA? The LA Bike show?

I would love to attend one where there is lots of Free Schwagg, and Drools

Sorry gang... I never made it there myself as my daughter became rather ill today and my wife and I thought it would be a bit much to take her the trip. It appears from a fellow who posted in another thread that it was not all that much to see in the end.

Take care,
T
