*gasp* I just paid $15 for a cyling magazine!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So I thought it said $4.99, but when I got home, it was $14.99! Yowzers! I'm going to so read that magazine inside out.

Anyone else ever gotten Ride? I'm still really excited about the magazine. I picked up Ride, Procycling, and Cycle Sport. Then I got home and got my bogus excuse of a magazine- Bicycling. So my plan is to lay in bed for a good part of the day tomorrow and bask in the glory of the great cycling magazines I've gotten.

Then I'm going to read Bicycling while I'm taking a bathroom break. Shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes.

Get out there and ride today Koffee. It's supposed to be 52F today. I'm out of here as soon as possible when my wife is finished running errands and such. When are the temps. going to return to the 60s or 70s. This last unseasonably cold snap sucks!

Haven't ever seen Ride, but I'll keep an eye out for it. Cycle Sport at my LMS is $12.95 CDN.

Can't. As old as I am, I need ONE day off riding. I have to listen to my body, and right now, it's saying STOP. So just indoor stuff for me. Besides that, I ride every day... so temperature and weather is not a factor on whether I have to ride or not.

Ride

I love that mag! It's an Aussie mag that publishes months after the big events it reports on, but it has great articles, reports, interviews and plenty of new goodies to drool over. The current issue available in the US reports on the TdF and questions whether or not DiLuca will the ProTour. The bike reviews are outstanding (not purely technical, but from a rider/racer's perspective). Dated material, but worth every overpriced penny!

I could tell. It's definitely packed with info. I'm going to be headed to bed early tonight, and that's my magazine of choice. I'm glad I paid good money for an excellent magazine.

Hey Koffee, if you ever need a new frame, it'll only cost you $250!

(You'll only notice the missing '1' when you get home.)

RIDE is a good mag. I just got a subscription for my birthday last week. My 2.5yo daughter told a friend she "gave Daddy a bike story for his birthday".

No I won't. I paid for it with my Performance points. That's why I don't mind so much, but dang... 15 bucks!

I've paid $9.00 for cycling plus and once paid $18.00 for a UK audio magazine
at the airport in Frankfurt (conversion problems there).

so, here's the question, how much would you be willing to pay
for a good US magazine ?

Yeah, they even sell coffee and have lounge chairs to sit in while you are evaluating your purchase options. Funny way to sell books.

Edit: I've virtually stopped buying magazines since the median price topped $5. Books are better values. Actual content, no advertisements, and about the same price as a few magazines.

Ride's one of my favourite magazines, after CycleSport. Well worth the price just for the competition pictures - and worth 2 trips to Starbucks They also carry some non-PC pics/ads especially from Limar helmets..

I pay WAY too much money every month for cycling mags, i spend too much time on the subway so i always end up buying them to read while commuting.

Cyling Weekly, 4 issues a month $5.50 x4 $2.00
Cycle Sport subscription $58.00 per year.
Pro Cycling $8.95
VeloNews $4.95
Bicycling - Subscribe - $9.00 per year (barely worth it)
Cycling+ - $8.99 per issue.

(Plus the other 2 road ones, ROAD and 1 other)

I would rather take the 9 bucks for Bicycling and use it to line a cat litter box. At least the money would be put to good use.

I get the Bicycling for "free"... I guess even though my subscription ran out, they're still sending it in the hopes they can trick me into subscribing at some point. Fat chance!

I'm thinking about getting subscriptions to the other magazines I got. It's worth it, even for the 15 dollar one...
