Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Felt

I saw this bike in person today at a local bike expo going on this weekend.
Very sexy I must say.

Thoughts?
Anybody ride one set up like this?

Those wheels look hot....it had Dura Ace on it.

Do you own this yet? I know I would like to. That sure is a purdy bike.

Edit: The text wasn't there when I first opened the thread. Please disregard.

I almost pulled the trigger on that bike, but then I saw close-up and was a bit turned off by the carbon weave look. I *think* it has the weave, might be mistaking it for one of the other F series so don't flame me. Anyway, I bought a matte black scandium SC1 frameset and am building now. Man I love the matte black - it looks darn mean. I will post build pics soon.

Cool.
I'd like to compare.

Some dufus bike salesman guy walks over to me while I am drooling and delivers the line:

"You know the scary thing is that it's about your size too."

Yeah, that's what I want....spend three grand on a bike that's 'about my size'....

oh yeah the beauty of the matte black is you can remove all but the downtube obnoxious felt/scandium stickers. I want contrasts so I'm going to wait until it's finished then decide which stickers to remove. Probably most will go.

Hip, my local LBS has bunches of carbon Felt frames. Felt expanded to 5 different carbon frames this year (F1C down to the F5C). The aluminum road frames now top out at the F55.

I haven't ridden an F1C or F2C, but they are hot bikes. I am afraid to test one out.... impulse buying and all... Actually, if I had the money, I'd be more tempted to get a Cervelo R3. You know, some bike way beyond what I would ever need!!

I'll make due with my trusty F65 for a while, I guess!

FWIW Chris Boardman gave it a pretty harsh review in CS.

They look pretty good - although the extra bit of material on the TT seems to be nothing more than aesthetic/tardemark - and are priced well. Don't know anybody who actually rides one.

yeah botto...
that's the thing....so many are soooo pretty, but when it comes to what really matters, the ride and how it matches you and how you ride....what type of riding....THAT's what really matters.

That's why my Klein is so great for me. It's a combo of both actually. It looks pretty darned good and with that shape and the shock in back....the ride really works for a 47 year old with a total hip replacement!

I have had 2 F2C's, one a normal one and now a team issue. I think they are awesome bikes that ride great. I havent had one thing wrong with mine and for the price the components cant be beat. I havent read the above mentioned review, what were the complaints?

No arguments here, and full props for owning a Klien. They're ground breakers. IIRC Cannondale had to change the rear stay/drop outs due to patent/design infringements that they were ripping off Klien back in the early 90s.

One OT question - my father had a hip replacement a year ago. I thought there was some issues (apart from the obvious probelm of falling on the new hip). Am i totally mistaken? He's not a big time rider these days, nor was it ever a huge thing, but he has been an enthusiast, and does like to ride. Since the Op he hasn't. I'd be curious to hear/read your experiences.

My teammate has one with AM Classic 303's and he's very happy with it. I have Felt DA700 as my TT bike and it's very light and stiff. Seem to be good bikes.

I just got a F3C the F2C's little brother and I love it, I've had it two weeks and have put around 250 miles on it so far. The zipps are some old ones I had laying around. I comes with Mavic Aksium Wheels, they had to cut costs somewhere and these are easy to upgrade.

"Bell" noises?

Hey,

All you Felt owners out there...does anyone have a problem with the cable running through the horizontal tube giving a 'bell' or rattling noise over bumps? My cable is hitting the inner horizontal tube and giving off a really annoying noise? The only way I've been able to get rid of the noise is to pull the cable tight at each end, but the sound returns later as the cable stretches again...

Any ideas on how to stop this from happening??? I have a 2006 Felt F65. Does the F5C-F1C have an internal cable running through the horizontal tube? If it doesn't, I might consider getting one to replace my F65...

Thanks,

Jason

I've got the '05 model which came with a surprise set of American Classic 420s on it. As far as I can tell, it's the same frame with a change in the font on the "F2c." I have no complaints. It's FAST. I really thought it was a great value, but after checking the retail pricing for the '06 models, and considering the AC 420 upgrade that was free, I feel I got a total steal. I haven't had the chance to ride other bikes in its class since I've purchased it (1 ride on a Trek, and it seemed comparable) but most "full carbon" frames that I've seen with Dura Ace componentry were at least $600 more, and in some cases as much as $1200 more. I'm a big guy, and this thing is STIFF as far as BB flex is concerned, but is still compliant over the bumps and chip seal roads. Aside from a set of killer Zipps, I honestly couldn't think of anything that would dramatically improve this ride; the lone exception being an optional fork with less rake (to increase trail) for recreational riders such as myself.

My uncle has a F1 Carbon and he loves it. I luckily got a chance to ride it and it is stiff, super light, and resonsive. I think that the F1 and the F2 have the same frame and slightly different components. I have the B2 TT bike and love it. From what I've seen, Felt makes some great bikes.
And, of course, I couldn't resist an opportunity to show of my B2.
