Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

YES. YES YES. This is so cool I didn't think that they would release the mid-level group so soon, it could very well be going on my next build.

I like the looks of their road groupo and am anxious to see it in person at my LBS!

The cranks are less than pleasing to look at. I was expecting more.

I don't know if I'm going to like that double click system.

Am I the only who will be uncomfortable shelling out DA/Record-class $$$ for an unproven system?

If the Rival is below Ultegra/Centaur price-wise then I'll likely give it a go.

SRAM really should have came out with something 105-like or below, so that people who are a little hesitant will feel more coaxed to give it a try.

It all looks good maybe this year I might need to be making the switch to SRAM from Ultegra.

These are going to be my three option (barring me from running in to a bunch of cash in the near future).

Thread highjack/ How does Centaur compare to Ultegra? It runs 130 dollars cheaper which puts in in the same price cat as 105.

Call me crazy, but I think the Shimano 10 speed stuff is a lot sexier looking.

You know, for years I always wanted to see an "all American" made/engineered road group. The SRAM/Truvativ group is just that. I like the way that it looks and I am sure that it will become the buzz on the road for pros and the rest of us. That being said, I can't come up with one single reason why I would want to go to that system over the Campy Record that I have used for many years. Similarly, if I were using Dura Ace, why would I find the SRAM to be better?

Give them time! In a year or two the SRAM will be sexy. Look how long it took them to get their MTB line right; but when they did, not only did it perform better than Shimano XTR, it looked better than Shimano XTR. It is a new product; no one in these forums can say it is better or worst than either Shimano or Campy. Lets here some reviews first. Looks are not as important as performance and weight. SRAM makes dam nice components, and I am sure that they will introduce dam nice road components

I like the idea of the Rival group plus it has a hollow forged aluminum crank which is a plus.

I really like the fact that they didn't use the cheapo looking chain rings off the Rouleur Carbon cranks in the force or rival groupo's. I might take a look at the rival group if the LBS gets a bike in with it. I really have to try this double tap out to see if it's for me though.

What's interesting to me is that now I'll be able to get removable link chains in 10s.

Also of note to compact fans is that SRAM will be offering a 11-26 casette.

My understanding of the chain is that the link is not really "removable" so much as it's "easy to close." From what I read, once closed, you can't re-open that link. If you want to open the chain you have to use a chain tool and then put a new power link in when you put it back on. I think I got that from the Zinn writeup...

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure.

As DerekU2 said you can't open the SRAM 10s link after it is closed...they want you to get another if you break the chain. But what is wrong with the KMC, Wipperman or IRC 10 speed links?
