Poll: your in-season weekly mileage?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Poll: your in-season weekly mileage?

Please be honest. I know that most polls have 90% of responders with a 40 resting heart rate and 3.5% body fat, but it would be interesting to know the actual weekly mileage you average in season.

Now I do 200 miles in 3 rides per week. I try to get out for 2 more shorter rides per week of speed work - prolly getting about 250/wk total now. I'm certainly busy, but I do have a life outside of cycling. Next week, I'll be backcoutry snowboarding for one of my ride days, so that'll be 75 less miles. Sheeeeeit, back in the Cat 1 days, I'd do 500/week in the spring for base and do 250-300/wk for the rest of the season - then I had no life outside of cycling.

On average ... 200+

I'm a Randonneur ... one ride on any given Saturday will be over 200 miles, never mind what I do for the rest of the week.

Here are my mileage charts for the past few years: https://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mac...=/5aa0&.src=ph

Probably around 200 during season. Generaly i ride no less than 6 days a week most often 7 at 6 days a week its only 33.3 miles a day most often i ride my local park 3x a day for a daily keep my rear n shape ride its 7 miles there back through all roads and parking lots x3 for 21 + larger ride one day a week at a min.

200 miles is realy quite easy to do in a week least for me.

All I can say is "wow."

PS. I'm one of the 100 mile per week guys. Work, travel and family absorb the rest of my time.

I'll do 50-75 if we're just counting M-F. Maybe another 60-80 counting weekend rides? I'm in awe about Randonnuers, those kind of miles with loaded bikes - amazing.

I don't wanna sound like a big fat hero, but 200 miles isn't that much if riding is part of a daily routine.
For eg, if someone lives in a good climate, and they ride 6 days a weeks, 200 miles is only 33.3 miles a day

Our bicycles aren't that heavily loaded!!

The first photo below is my typical Randonneuring setup .... pretty light compared with my typical touring setup shown in the second photo.

If you're a hammer, 33.3 miles/day is an hour and a half. If you're not, it's more.

Add to that the overhead associated with driving to your riding spot, or if you can ride from you place of work, the overhead associated with showering and going back to work, or if you ride from your house, the overhead associated with standing on the dole line all day long ( ) and pretty soon you're talking about real time.

If you travel for work, as I do, you're not even in the same city as your bike half the time.

was doing 100-150 a week a few weeks ago, but I've been doing around 200 a week lately, and I'm hoping to increase it as the season goes on. I'm in college, so it's not too difficult to find the time, and by now my taint is like beef jerky so its pretty comfy.

I 'gree 200 is not that much for weekly milage (3 rides) - that's why I didn't understand the comment on the 'poll' about not having a life if weekly milage exceeds 200. 350-400 maybe... Not being a di#k but 200's pretty easy along w/ doing alot of other things in life.

Good point. I suppose I may have skewed point of view as I work 60-70 hours per week. 200 miles in mixed riding (flats and hills) would probably take me 12-14 hours or so. I like to spend time with my family, cook and take care of things around the house (plus sleep) so I may not have as much free time as some of the other posters.

See ... I make a point of cutting back to about 40-50 hours a week over the summer to free up some time for cycling. The winter is for the 60+ hour work weeks.

I'm in the 125-200 range, but I'm not a racer. I still consider myself a rec rider staying in shape.

I'm not a racer, but I typically do 175 - 200 miles a week. Some weeks I may get a lot of ridng in and break the 300 mile barrier. But weather permitting I'm right around 200 per week.

I'm not a racer, but 150 miles/week is about my pace right now.....it will probably go up a bit in a couple months.
