a PERFECT day
to break in the new bike!
Man oh man! After a week spent in NYC with amazing weather and no bike it was a bummer when i found myself in southern Connecticut yesterday and lots of rain.
Fortunately things took a turn for the better today, and temps hit something in the range of 70+° F
Which, as the title of this thread states, was the perfect weather for me to finally get some road time on my 3 month old TCR Comp 0, which has been sitting in my parents basement while I've been riding my ancient C'dale 2.8 - don't ask why, it's a long story
So, what can I say about the test run? Well, apart from the fact that my seatpost kept sliding down, the bike is fantastic. I went out for 2 hours, and stayed out for 3.5
Here's a pic
yeah, yeah - i know. cut the steerer.
and here's a bonus pic. in case you're wondering, that's a St Michael's medal. I've had one on all of my bikes, going back to my racing days. He's the patron saint for battle, amongst other things

I really love the TCRs. Most comfortable bike I have ridden! I would have gotten one if I had the cash.
I like the medal, that's sort of a nice touch.

I was just kidding. I'm actually jealous. I've been trying to pick up a used TCR Composite 0 but haven't been able to work it into the budget yet (read: justify the expense to my wife).

No don't cut the steerer if you don't have to. It's not in the way and if you keep the bike long enough you might want to raise the stem up in your older years for more comfort.

i'm afraid the steerer will defnitely be cut down (the stem is actually 2cm higher than what i've been riding recently).
seeing as i'm 'only' 38, i think i'll have the time to pick up another bike when my back gives out

Wow, very good looking bike, love the color also, I looked hard at the Giants when I was buying a new bike ended up buying a Specialized Roubaix Comp since the LBS gave me a deal I couldn't refuse.
I really like the St Michael's medal, He's a powerful saint/angel, I have him in my car, house and at my work. I never thought about putting a medal on the bike, I might steal this idea from you if you don't mind

It's too bad Giants get knocked so much, perhaps just as much as treks. They are just sort of the ubiquitous bike, but I really enjoy them. When I was test riding bikes under 1000, the OCR2 was definetly the most comfortable, but I found a Specialized Allez Triple in a 62cm for 499. Now the LBS has the '05 OCR2 in XL for 550 for me if I want it.
Sigh
