Notice anything differant about my Giro Monza?
How about now?
I am so sick and tired of not being able to see anything when I'm riding at night. And I don't mean the road. I mean my computer. Of which only one of them has a backlight, but my other two have nothing. Also, if I ever need to dig through my bag or wedge for a snack or tools, etc. I have nothing easily available. I wanted a small light I could attach to my helmet for this, but all the helmet lights are much bigger, and riding specific. I wanted something that doesn't look like a huge growth on the front of my head.
Well, in my quest to find a small light for my helmet, my daughter answered my prayers. She came home from school the other day with a small LED ear-light that she won as a prize at shool. After playing with it for an hour, she promptly broke the ear piece off, so you can't wear it on your ear anymore.
So, Daddy was so graciously willing to take it off her hands, after she threw it in the trash. I used a small piece of 3m double sided sticky tape, and stuck it to the side of my helmet. It is very small, super light, and has a swivel to tuck it out of the way when I'm not using it. You can't even see it from the front. I don't have to worry about strapping it on before a night ride, since I can just leave it there. Best off all, it works perfectly.

I have my EL400 mounted up top. It looked cooler on the side but is visible from both directions on the top.

I bought a package of two small led lights that I attached to the straps on my helmet, they have small pinch clips. $20 bucks at Sears (Flashlight section in the Tool Department).

I never new these tiny little lights even existed, until my daughter brought it home. I did a search and found a couple on Ebay for about $7.
It is not bright like a headlight. It only shines about 10'-12' in the dark . It really is perfect for just looking at your computer and digging around inyour wedge/trunk bag or whatever you need to see up close at night. What I like, is that it is so light and so small, that I can leave it there all the time and ride during the day without being an eye-sore. It does just I need it for, yet still doesn't look like a coal miners helmet with a big light on top.
slvoid,
even the light you have, is way too big for what I wanted. But then, yours is more of a short range headlight, and is much brighter, I'm sure.

Yeah it's about the size of 2 D batteries but it's VERY bright. I can light up street signs 2 blocks away. It's good to aim at the heads of drivers.
They have ones now about the size of a C cell battery, much smaller, and it uses a 1 watt luxeon, about 10x brighter than even the one I have.
