Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Isn't it #@$% spring!

I just needed to rant as it is now the third week of april and so far we have only had a handfull of days over 50 degrees and all of them were windy. Todays forcast, snow and 30mph gusts. Oh well I guess its another day on the trainer.

geez - is it really that cold? We're getting close to 90 degrees here, although the typical spring winds are howling like crazy.

I feel your pain. I'm just 80 miles away in Quincy. Today is my birthday and I was going to ride my age (59). Instead I will be doing 59 minutes on the trainer. It's snowing big time here.

It was like 80 here yesterday, but in the low 60's today.....and gusty winds so far this spring. Kinda annoying, really.

Didn't ride yesterday or today.....so much for getting a long ride in this weekend. Sorta have a bit of a sore throat and not feeling quite 100%. Don't want to make it worse by riding, so I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Gorgeous here in the Hudson Valley of SE NY State. What a beautiful ride today. A bit breezy, but 68 moderately paced miles with a few 25mph+ jams for the last 10-15 miles, a couple of challenging climbs (nothing over 1 mile). Just outstanding. Best ride of the year : ).

I did 25 mph in Wisconsin today - I was going to do more, but the weather here drove me inside. Winds gusting to 30 mph, rain, chance of severe thunderstorms, temps in the middle 40s.

The worst part was Friday it was 75 and sunny, but I had to work at the LBS where I am employed. That's the worst part, seeing people come in who are riding.

Stop complaining. It's been hovering around 50/60 here in massachusetts and it's been great. Well, at least I don't live in Nevada. I thought the desert was supposed to be hot.

I have a theory. People who live in the desert are usually the most pissed-off. (Too much sand in your pants?) That explains all the fighting in the middle east. I say let's move everyone who lives in desert to Brazil or something.

The operative phrase here being 'one of the very few things that isn't'. If it wasn't for the consistent endorphin flow cycling provides my system I would have friggin thrown myself in front of a train 2 years ago just from watching the Evening News.

Ahhhhh.....sounds like the loooong *Minnesnowta* winters. Cheeseflavor and I I can't compalin about the weather for April, temps have been right around 70 +/- a degree or two - we have about 120-150 miles a week for the past 4 weeks with just this past week of 154.4 miles! Unbelievable weather for this time of year up here in da nort'....yah, you betcha! Although we coud do without the winds!!!! Today must have been 25-30 mph winds.

Sorry the weather hasn't been great for you hang in there! We know the *Spring Fever* feeling VERY well. Seeing images of ..."faces pressing against the window dreaming of a warm summer day"

Hill slug, with all these miles you and cheeseflavor look like you are all set for the Ironmann century at the end of the month my max so far on my roubaix is 50 miles, trying to build up for a century.

We had kind of a nasty day here in Milwaukee, 45-52 degrees, cold, rain and storms. As you said it has been nice so no complains.

Last week was mostly in the mid-70s and sunny, first rides without having to wear a vest or knee warmers. This weekend has been in the mid-low 60s and partly cloudy. Warm weather expected again this coming week. Though to be honest, unless it is raining, the weather doesn't really affect my rides because I ride in the early morning when it is nice and cool. With spring break this past week, I was able to get in some rides after work...which was nice, but I still prefer early morning rides
