Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

what food do you keep at the office?

after losing a little weight (bad for me...very skinny to begin with) i determined i need to keep eating every 2-3 hours during the day. this can get very expensive and is sometimes hard when at work.

so i started keeping some instant oatmeal, some nurtitional supplement drinks, little containers of fruit, and a few bananas and apples. basically enough to add some calories during the day and keep me from getting so hungry in between meals.

what do you guys keep at the office? i may need ideas once i get sick of these things i have.

I have a few Clif bars that I eat (one after I arrive, then one about 90 minutes before I leave), but for regular snacking, I find things that I can graze on a bit better to handle. Trail mix is good, dried fruit, and some nuts. I also am a big fan of Newman's Own pretzels. I can also eat all of those and not get crap all over my hands.

Leftover pizza and boxes of cereal - the good-for-you kind.

A slice of pizza is great right around 3 pm to get me fueled up for the 20 mile commute home.

I've kept all these foods at work for a quick pick-me-up: Yogurt, cottage cheese and fruit, lowfat Wheat Thins and fat-free string cheese, grapes, boiled eggs, PB&J, baby carrots, instant grits and oatmeal, meal replacment drinks like Slim Fast...

Mini bagels and yogurt mid-morning, chicken breast and red potatoes followed by an apple for lunch, bar and apple mid-afternoon. I keep some extra bars and a few cans of tuna in my desk for whenever I'm extra hungry.

do you work in an office? basically if i kept food in the fridge there is a good chance it would be gone. but i have these little cabinets over my desk that i can lock if i want. so, i can store as much food as i want as long as it doesn't need to be kept cold.

Man, you guys are all snacking healither than me

I had a box of Girl Scout cookies, Samoas - and a box of Chips Ahoy. After lunch its fruit snacks (gummy kind, not the fruit in a cup snack!). I really should go to the store and get some healthy stuff!

I keep a couple of beers here in the fridge in my office. 8 or 10 of those a day and I have no problem keeping the pounds on...

On a serious note... Oatmeal or grits in the morning and an Icecream bar in the afternoon.

Seeing how I work at a milk/culture plant I have a infintie amount of yogurt and cottage cheese that I snack on. After I grab some that stuff I go grab a gallon of water to get me hydrated for my ride after work!
