Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

junk bike

i found this bike when riding through an alley and they were throwing it away and it looked like it had potential... what it needs is new wheels, brakes, gears, pedals, and a paint job, so its pretty much a frame, but its a cool frame. how much do you think it would be to make this thing run and look good? and is it worth it?? and would it work? ha

-Thanks

Personally, that is wayyy too trashed to put a ton of work into it. First check for any major damage, and relatively deep dings etc. also what is under that electrical tape on the top tube?

I think if I had it, I would rebuild it just for fun! I'd rebuild it with used parts though.

thats what i was thinking, i would make it mine. and definetly used parts because it'd be way too expensive to but all brand new stuff for it.

Every single thing needs work here.

The cheapest bike at your LBS with say bottom of the line Shimano, will run better than anything you do to this! Why not buy a new 05' Giant or Fuji hybrid at $250 and upgrade that for fun?

it's worthless junk. don't spend any money on it. if you fix it up, give it away to someone who doesn't have a bike at all.

there's an old saying 'you can't polish a turd'

Hey! If you decide to ditch it and you live close to Cincinnati, OH, and the bike is close to a 57cm, I'll polish that old turd!

Inflate the tires, ghetto the handlebars(flip them upside-down), grow a beard, then come on here and tell us how real steel really is.

Ashtabula cranks are usually a dead giveaway that the bike's not worth reviving.
