Need Opinion on New Commuting/Leisure Bike

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need Opinion on New Commuting/Leisure Bike

I have the opportunity to purchase a used bike with the following specs:
HARO EXTREME 21.5inch frame lightweight 27 gears, Cromoly and aluminum composite frame. All custom components, by Ringle, Control Tech, Shimano Decore LX front & rear derailer w/ Vetta gel high performance seat and Syncros seat post. Includes; 2 bottle cages.
The bike is 5 years old - not used much - properly maintained - excellent condition. I ride around town as well as commute to work every once in a while. The commute is 16 miles each way with lots of small to medium hills (Queens, New York area.) Any one have any opinions? I'm going to look at it tonight.
