Portland riders, need your advice/input
Hello all. It's finally settled, and I'll be heading to Portland for a weeks vacation from June 28 through July 6th. I will be spending the first part at a friend's house in Sherwood, and the rest somewhere in the downtown area of Portland. I am shipping my bike to his house, and was hoping for some easy routes just to take in the scenery (he and his wife live on Cinnamon Hill road or lane or whathaveyou) and tool around in the morning while everyone else is sleeping. I am mostly a bike commuter (20 miles/day), and I try to do at least one ride each weekend. I'd like to find some BF members to ride with, as long as you wouldn't mind someone who isn't too swift of pedal. Plus, I live in Illinois, so I don't quite know what a real hill is like.
So if anyone knows of some fairly easy and scenic routes around Sherwood, and also around the city, I'd greatly appreciate it. Someone from Portland Office of Transportation is sending me some area cycling maps, but I figured that those who ride the roads would know better (ie easier for the noob) routes. Plus, if there are any organized rides going on in that time, I'd love to try and work that in, too. Now I just hope my bike arrives.
Thanks in advance.

I live in Sherwood and know all sorts of great routes. If you want, I can arrange a group ride with the BF locals for the weekend. Or I can take you for a personal tour.
Or, if you want to get out on your own, let me know what you're looking for in terms of distance, terrain and scenery and I'll put something together for you.

bigskymacadam, thanks for the links! The forums link should be very helpful when it comes time to head out.
Rad, I'll PM you sometime in June, just to make sure that everything is still going to go as planned on MY end (the people I'm staying with are notorious 'last-minute changers' of plans.) I'd love to do a ride with some of the BF members, but I would probably be kinda slow, and constantly stopping to take photos and gaze at the scenery. And I'm shipping my commuter bike, so it'll win 'ugliest bike of the bunch' award, if you have one.
I'll be in touch, and thanks again for the help.
