Tough to be at work

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tough to be at work

when the usps guy drops off a nice light box, that when you open it contains a beautiful set of M.G. Niobium 30's with White Industry H-1 hubs. Sticker said 629gms on the front, and 816gms on the rear, 32grams of tape, makes 1477 for the set. I am very exicted to get home, put some rubber on them, mount em up on the Legend, and ride. (Sounds a little dirty putting that way )

So what are you waiting for? You're the boss, leave early.

Interesting that the weight of those Niobiums is IDENTICAL to the stated weight of the Rolf Prima Vigors - a very similar wheel.

And finally, do us all a favor and leave them home on the group rides - isn't the distance between you and us common folk cavernous enough?

Psst - don't tell Pedalmasher....

wish I was the boss, looking at two bids due by Friday for major Hospital remodels and all I can think about is how sweet the rear wheel sounded when I was spinning it.

Played hooky yesterday and rode the new CAAD8 up (and down!) Diablo. Saw a rattler on the road, got him to buzz with a nice long stick. 85 degrees, hardly any yahoo cagers, plenty of wildflowers, and lots of sweat. Much better than work.

Hey I was just trying to impress you on Sunday, I couldn't stand up for two days after the cookie ride
I probably could not ride that well again if my life depending on it, I just didn't want Pedalmasher to ride all alone.
How much do the Vigors usually go for?

I bought mine 2 years ago when the MSRP was $850. I paid six and some change and have ridden them maybe a dozen times. If I was doing it today, I'd get the Niobiums.

Me likey the Niobiums. Of course anything would be better than what I had... I have hit 2 gargantuan potholes so far and still perfectly true (knock on wood for the next one). I'm not light either.

Ended up running me $600.00, cause of the H-1 hubs.

went on a nice 25 miler after work tonight, and I must say these things are sweet! They roll effortlessly, so smooth and light. Climbed about 1500 ft, some of which was 17+% grade and they felt better than anything else I've used. I am no wheel expert, or wise about anything that has to do with bikes., but I have owned a few wheelsets in my short time as a cyclist. Open pro ultgra, Bontrager race lites, Campy Zondas, and Bontrager race x lites, and these are better than all of them from what I can tell.

Came down a couple of nice hills at about 40mph, and they tracked and responded perfectly. Went into a fairly tight turn at about 35 mph and felt total confidence.

What impresses me the most is the hubs, They spin forever with so little effort. There is almost zero play in the pedal stroke before engagement. They sound so refined. My Campy freeubs sound so bulky, strong and durable. These sound like my best fly reel as a giant steelhead is ripping all the line off as it heads back to the ocean. It just sings.

I am doing my very first century this weekend, and will post a follow up if they fail me miserably.

fishmel.. when i first got my set of MG aerohead velocity (electric blue) delivered to my work around 11am... i told my boss i had a sever case of the runs... (must pretend to hold your arse while running to the restroom like a crazed madman in pain) and said i have a doctor appt in around noon time so i will need to take the rest of the day off to rest my arse.

then i got home.. mount it on.. and spun it on the bike stands... damn it sounded sweet. then i waited of other parts to arrive only hard part was finding other excuses to use to go home early.. haha.

congrats by the way.. i know you'll love your MG!!!
