Which Bike would you buy if you had $7,000US
I'm pretty sure this is my first post here so here goes. I'm looking to purchase a new ride in the next couple of months and I have been reading everything possible and taking in everyones ideas, however I'm still very confused. First problem is I'm an Aussie (take that how you like) and where I'm at not many of the LBS have bikes in the price range I'm looking at. I'm looking to spend around $7000-$10000AUD which works out around say $5,500-$7,500USD.
It's not exactly small change so I want to get it right. My second issue is I'm 6'2" and about 85 kg or 200 pounds. I have been looking at the Orbea Orca TDF, however I have read a couple of times here and other places that 85kg is on the heavy side. I really want to go carbon and I have turned my attention towards the Ridley Danocles. Any ideas as to any weight restrictions for Ridley's? My current ride is Giant TCR 2, so anything would be an improvement in my mind. I will be using it for group rides and also racing, so I would like it to cope with both. I'm not really after comfort I'm definately after speed and performance. On my current bike I still manage to win many sprints and upset quite a few people so I hope that with the purchase of a new machine it will be even more enjoyable.
Any information would be greatly appreciated in regards to this bike or any others that you feel would suit my needs. I'm not into customs and I do prefer compact or sloping frames.

Time VXR or VXRS, with your height and weight I would probably go VXR.
Look 585
One of the new Cervélo, never rode any but they look great.
I am sure you will get zillions of different answers here. The best is to determine your fit and then go test ride. For the same frame size some makers have longer top tubes than others so the geometry might not be the best for you even if the bike looks cool.

Look has great frames, but I don't know......they are not that impressive IMHO. For that much money, I'll look for something else.

How about Specialized S-works, either Roubaix or Tarmac? I have a Roubaix and am the same size as you, 6'3 200lbs and it works great.

I second either an Independent Fabricator or a Serotta with full Record.

For that kind of money I'd have a one of kind custom frame built by someone I could speak with face to face. For me it would be a frame with some beatifully sculptured lugs although I recognize this is way out of vouge.

Definately go full custom. Serotta, Seven, Parlee, Calfee, lots of others do really excellent full custom geometry bikes. The differences are most personal preferences regarding materials and designs.

Buy a decent bicycle and put the rest in savings. It makes zero sense to me to spend that much for a bicycle.

That IF logo looks like it came off a bad can of dog food from the 1970's. That's uglier than my Cannondale decals. At least the Cannondale wasn't overpriced.
