Does type of bike make big differance
I am a enthusiast who gets to ride about 80 to 130 miles a week depending on my schedule.
My question is I ride a specialized sequoia because its comfortable for my back that bothers me from time to time. Many of the guys I ride with ride more traditional geometry frames Is there a big difference in speed and climbing ability from some of these more traditional bikes as compared to my seqouia or is it still mostly lungs and legs.
Am trying to decide if its worth the money to upgrade.

No road bike will make you faster if you have to trade a happy back for backpain, the most important thing is to enjoy your ride, if you can not shake the idea you need a new bike go to the LBS and get a proper fitting, you might also consider a flat bar road bike.

It is my belief that it's 95% engine....(unless you are a pro then it's probably more like 96% )
The only upgrading I have done to either of my bikes is for comfort.

Trust me, Lance Armstrong on your bike would leave your riding friends in the dust.

What about the time that Hincapie showed up on the Noon Ride in the bay area and dropped everyone like flies while he was talking on his cell phone? He could have been on somebody's grandfather's steel boat anchor with downtube shifters and still beat everyone to a pulp.
