First 50 miler...
If the weather cooperates I'm going to try my first 50 miler tomorrow. The longest I have ridden so far is 33 miles.
My question is....what should I bring for food? I plan on 1 PB&J sandwich, 1 clif bar and 1 GU gel. Is that to much? To little? In what order should I eat them or doesnt it matter? What should I eat before the ride?

Have a PBJ before you go and bring one with you. You'll probably find 50 miles isn't much harder than 33, just lasts longer.
Most of all, enjoy yourself!

I like to eat a pretty high-carb meal before the ride, but nothing to the point that I'll feel full. As for during the ride, you can split it up into having a little food every 10-15 miles or so, I find that usually works for me. What you're planning on bringing sounds just fine to me, but everybody's needs are a little different.
Today I went for a hard 40 miler averaging 21.0 mph and ate two clif bars, drank two bottles of water, and not much else. It shouldn't matter what order you eat your food in, just don't eat it all at the beginning or something .

You probably have more food than you need, but it doesn't hurt to carry a bit extra along, just in case. Just pace yourself, and you should be fine. Good luck, and have fun. Be sure to report back.

Good luck. 50 is a great milestone. Your menu sounds fine to me. Just make sure to carry enough water -- that's even more important than food.

A rule of thumb is 1 energy bar (250 calories) and 1 pint of sports drink (100 calories) per hour. You should adjust that up or down depending on your weight, intensity, and weather conditions. In very hot conditions, you might need to drink 2 or 3 times that amount. A lightweight person might need half the calories.
