Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

3rd time this Sunday, same route as last year for the 100. I did a training ride out your way a few weeks ago up Bumble which is 33 from home, then to Central Mangrove, Ourimbah, The Entrance & back to Noraville. 96 in total. Going to take it easy the rest of this week, couple of slow 20s Wed & Thu, Friday & Saturday a short test ride around the block to sort out minor adjustments.
Edit....all distances are kMs not miles

So was that along Yarramalong Road and then up Bumble Hill?

How did you find Bumble Hill? I rode it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, but I needed to stop and rest twice. I'm new to this cycling stuff I did it totally in my granny chainring (24t), and it was v slow.

I thought this years century was different in that you divert at Calga down towards the river and back, instead of cycling all the way to Bucketty. But I could be wrong.

Phil.

Yes, from the bottom. Well The B Hill is a good one, particularly the 3rd Steep, the last half of which I was in the Granny [30/25] and off the saddle. This was my third attempt, first one failed, 2nd time OK on a hybrid 28/32 low, third one was a different bike, a flat bar 30 speed. With the changing gradient I find it better to go up 3 or 4 gears & leave the saddle occasionally to relieve the muscles.
As for CCC ride, 2004 was the almost too Bucketty year, last year & this is to the river & back with the turn around at the shop at Greta Rd. If my memory is correct 103 kMs is the actual distance.
