Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

But importantly, not damage to the Merlin. I protected it with replaceable skin and managed to fall to the non-drive side (must protect rear derailleur). Left DA brifter got a bit nicked but otherwise looks okay.

Basically came to stop at an intersection in the bike lane. Truck came to stop. I started to go. Truck started to go. I hit brakes but couldn't unclip because I had just increased the play on my Speedplay Zeroes (no good reason, just tinkering to see what was like with maximum play - now I know).

And for the record, the driver got out of the truck to see if I was okay and offer assistance. It wasn't his finest day, but he wasn't driving like a wacko either.

Glad you and your bike are okay. Make sure to remember to readjust the play!

Ha! I went over my bike in detail when I got home but I forgot to readjust the play until I read your post. I'd have felt pretty stupid dumping my bike two days in a row.
