Red Bull exploded in my seat pack

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Red Bull exploded in my seat pack

So I was going out for a short ride yesterday night on the Bianchi.. on the way home I stopped by the food mart for a quick bite. Red Bull was on sale for 99 cents a can, I bought a can and stuck it in my seat pack.

I pedaled off for home, riding across bumpy roads and taking the bike off curbs slowly, whoop de doo, usual stuff. Then I was coming down Midvale Ave. when suddenly I felt a few drops of something on the back of my leg.

Was it raining? I looked up. Negative. Then I also sort of realized that it'd be weird if it only rained on the back of my calves. As I coasted to a stop, the dripping really began to pick up, and pretty soon I had that sssssss noise coming from the back. Oh, crap.

I ripped open the seat pack only to get sprayed in the face by a very angry Red Bull. Grabbed it and quickly thrust it away from myself like a peeing baby.. that can was seriously leaking. I popped the top to stop the pressure and drank what was left of it (not much).

Then I checked inside my seatpack. It was seriously flooded with that yellow caffienated mess; I quickly unclipped the pouch and poured it all onto the sidewalk with a 'splash' - out clattered three sticky tire levers as well as two very syrupy multi-tools. I was left with one seat pack, strongly smelling of.. well, whatever they put in those drinks.

Anyway, I'm just glad I took my cell phone out of the pouch to make room for the drink beforehand. I was also pretty relieved that hardly any got on my wheel/cassette/derailleur, otherwise things would've been a lot less happy. I guess the pop just exploded under pressure - all the shocks and bumps probably didn't do it much good. Thinking about throwing the whole pouch in the laundry or something.
