Portland Roadies... Memorial Day weekend?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'll be out at the Deshutes River drinking cold ones. Wednesday mid-week ride? I would, but with being gone so much, work is piling up. Dang.

Maybe.

I might be working on a new bike. Stay tuned. I'll know in less than an hour.

I'm in for some form of a ride on Sunday - Wed. Small chance I might be racing Silverton road race on Sunday, but unlikely due to it being mainly a climbers race. This race stuff is fun and addicting if you stay on your bike.

I have friday, saturday and monday off. If it doesn't conflict with family activities it would be great.

Nice. Mine is still probably a month from completion. I know I SHOULD just take the frame and the parts and build it myself...but this way I let the shop build it, and its got a lifetime warranty.

I'd get dropped like a bad habit. Maybe once my race bike is ready I'll give her a go...

Rumor has it that this a real hard race. I'll be fighting just to hang on. Take a look at last year's results and see how many dnf's there were.....that's foreboding. When are you planning on starting to race Jakey?

That sounds good...though I will be coming off a week of basically no riding. Weather isn't too promising at this point.

I cannot ride Sat as I have some guests from out of town staying with us. However, I am excited about crushing some Vancouver souls and making children fatherless just in time for Memorial Day.

We'll have to run you past Tonya Harding's place, maybe we can have her hit you with a hubcap or lead pipe or something to slow you down..... I think she still lives around here somewhere.....

I did a double metric last Sunday and have not touched the bike since so I will be in pain with you.

Cool, I'm up for up to 70 miles, with a fair amount of climbing. Vancouver is 65 miles from me though...so lets start at like 8-8:30 rather than 7

At first I thought it was that other bike...and then I realized that its completion would mean the arrival of the apocalypse!
