Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looking for good Dahlonega-Gainesvill GA area ride maps

Hi I am going to Gainesville, GA Sat. June 3rd and I am looking (without much success) for good, clear ride maps for this area. Any help would be much appreciated.

There's a pocket size book you can pick up at any of the local bike shops that's called Road Rides of North Georgia. It's written by a local and has a lot of details about where to park, ride, be careful....

I would recommend a ride over to Helen. I have a great route from there that takes you over Hogpen Gap, Jack's Gap, and Unicoi Gap with an option to do Brasstown Bald if you're interested. If not, you just pedal on past the road. It's about a 50 miler.

PM me if interested,
Michael

There are so many great rides in that area.

Take a look at bikesbl.org, there's a ride calendar and some maps there.

We're doing the 3 gap just north of Dahlonega Tuesday if you want to tag along. It's ~40 miles with a fair bit of climbing and some fun decents.
