Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ostuni, it's time for a new bike!

Os, I got the itch to build a new bike, I don't want another road bike, and I detest mountain biking. so I am looking at this:

Don't you think you need a TT bike also?

Perhaps he should build both. It'll be quicker that way, Ostuni. Like ripping off a band-aid.

Who knows? Perhaps the bikesdirect.com sale on Thursday will be a TT bike. If it is... I might be blowing my budget this month.

What size are you, Waldo? If it were a 54, I wouldn't be telling you about the one for sale...

ElJamo, I usually ride a 56cm or 57cm road bike frame, the way bikes should be measured not the way Trek measures. I am also a traditional frame geometry kinda duy. If the top tube is <56cm I use a 110mm stem, just over 56cm and I can use a 100mm. Usually ride with 175mm cranks but am equally comfortable with 172.5mm and if forced will ride 170mm cranks. I think I will need a 55-57cm TT frame.

I think he should build a cyclocross bike, with an 14-sp rohloff hub, and some mods to fit a 10-sp campy freehub body onto it. Then proceed to make a 420-speed bike, just to say he has one .

Imagine the fun and the possibilities....and the WTF? factor

(in the meantime, please don't tell me about the monthly bd sale bike... )
