Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

im having two problems i need help with...

1. recently after my rides i have been experiencing a very very sore spot in my 'area'. it almost feels as though i have a cut there but there is no scare, abrasions, or anything. could i need new pants? it only recently started happening this year. recommendations?

2. my right leg is much more developed than my left. it is noticable to people other then me. are there any good exercises off bike that i can do to equal this out?

Is there a rash? Bodyglide works great for protecting your "area".

i assume you're talking about your taint, right? do you have peal izumi bibs? sounds like it.

regardless, this is my advice: use chamois creme. if that doesn't help, buy new bibs.

as far as your 2nd question: have you tried HGH?

If it is that noticable then one legged drills would certainly help, both in correcting the defincies in muscle mass of your weak leg and in smoothing out and balancing your stroke.

Yep, try clipping in your left foot only and doing one-legged drills. They help.

If there is no scar or visible rash, I don't think chamois cream will help, does the pain feel toppical or internal, if the answer is internal than you might consider consulting a Dr. or getting a fit from a bike store. Then see a Dr. if the problem continues

Usually new shorts, seat maybe, experimenting with seat position and your general sitting position will certainly help - it's a personal thing so you have to try different things and fugure it out. Unless your situation now requires medical attention then go get it.

Leg presses with more emphasis on the weaker leg will help, but unless you keep it up and/or make a consious effort to balance your walking, riding etc, the imbalance in development will come right back.

I've been riding for years and couple weeks ago with a new pair of bibs I ran into the same sharp pain as the OP. The RLX Sport bibs I wore had a little thicker pad then I like and I concluded it was just a pinch. The pain was gone after a week of riding in my old bibs.

Sure, of course. Leg extensions on a machine, focusing on the weak leg while you do both legs and also weak leg only sets will help. Eeveryone has a side dominance in terms of muscle strength and size, however if it's to the extreme you're saying, I think it's important to smooth and balance your pedaling style (with one legged drills) in order to balance the muscle size and strength permanently. In other words, you can do all the correcting exercises for size and strength you want, but the problem will persist if you don't balance your spinning.

I have some experience w/ #2. Hit the gym and do one-legged squats in the smith machine and one leg quad extensions. You need to build that muscle up or your stronger leg will keep getting bigger.

Personally I'm unable to do one legged pedaling, I don't know it just feels weird to me.
