Of course you could have fractured some ribs, driven them through a lung and are slowly dying and telling yourself that you'll feel better later. Personally I'd like you to visit a doctor ASAP.

I woke up one day feeling like I had been hit by a truck. Turns out, I had been hit by a truck.

it's just muscle/tissue soreness due to the fact that at 44 years old i'm not made of rubber anymore and bouncing down the pavement shocks the body.
it's a bit better today.
edit: not a race but a vigorous ride with eight friends. cruising about 25 mph slight down hill, two friends from the rear sprinted by & i stood up out of the seat & sprinted after them. about 8 hard standing pedal strokes i lost my chain & pulled my bike out from underneath me. shoulder rolled, hit the back of my head, & slid on my back about 30 feet.

If you broke a rib you would know it, breaking a rib does not induce soreness , it induces excruciating pain.
but you might have a muscle tear which is almost as serious or internal bleeding, I would got to a doctor if the pain shows no signs of dissipating.

Sounds like you're getting better though. Sucks to see the jersey ruined, it gets expensive to keep replacing that stuff. Fortunately, most helmets have some sort of crash discount policy.

Sorry to hear Blue.....
I know how you feel, I crashed on the weekend too Received a concussion, and may have fractured my arm. I was Cat scanned and X-rayed, and let go. I dont remember the incident, and I have to get my arm X-rayed again to check calcium build up.
One thing that I find works well for road Rash is Spenco Second Skin, or Tegraderm Next care.

My bike was actually OK, I took some clear paint to the lightly scuffed carbon parts, and you can't tell.... I hope yours was minimal too.
I have been treating my sorrows with online purchases

jersey trashed, voler elite bibs trashed, checking on helmet crash replacement with catlike.
the bike isn't to bad. scratched right brake lever and hood but just cosmetic, ground down the adjustment screws and the carbon on my rear derailleur (hopefully cosmetic), torn handle bar tape, 3/4" tear of the edge of my fizik aliante.
biggest is a break in my rear zipp404 where it looks like a spoke tried to jam inwards. i'm having my LBS send both the front & rear back to zipp. the rear to repair, the front to check over to make sure it's ok.
my bike is at the LBS now getting checked over with a fine tooth comb because i dont want to pull a Hincappie on my next bump.
i'm also getting rid of the record ultra "narrow" chain & the FSA super road chain rings. i'm going with the regular record ultra chain & my chain rings will be the ones that cannondale uses with their hollowgram SI cranks. i don't know about you, but i've had some problems with the ultra narrow chain not wanting to stay on my FSA ring gears so they're gone. cannondale says their rings are compatible with the record ultra chain.
while my zipps are being sent back for crash adjustment im having my mavic elites setup for campy. campy freehub, chorus cassette, then tires & tubes. i need to ride while my zipps are being repaired.

bluecd: take comfort my friend, your aches and pains are right on schedule.
For reasons that I don't completely understand but have seen on too many occasions to count, injuries in 30+ year olds don't really peak symptomatically until somewhere between 24-48 hours post-injury.
I'd concur with the other posters: it wouldn't hurt to stop by your primary care physician and have her/him take a quick look at you. Nothing much you can do about a broken rib, but they can at least write you for pain meds to take the edge off.
Then, it's mostly basic common sense stuff:
* ice for the first 24 hours
* moist heat after 24 hours
* ibuprofen 400-800 mg (as long as you're not allergic and can tolerate it -- too much of this or pain meds like Tylenol can give you stomach ulcers, so be careful) every 8 hours for 2 days to help with the pain and swelling
* ease up for a couple days and get good night's sleep
* ease back into exercising and stretch religiously
Sorry to hear about the banged up stuff -- glad to see you were wearing a helmet. Our summer time organ donors have (sadly) already started to arrive. Congrats for not being one.
cheers,
Johnny
