Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

26'' wheels on a road frame ??

Hi All,
This might sound stupid (or atleast weird ...)
I have a really really nice vintage road frame that is a bit tall (I usually ride 53 and this one is 55)
I'm thinking of building a single speed/fixed gear commuter out of it.
But ...
I want to use 26'' wheels (26 x 1.5 or similar)

Did someone ever try this configuration ?

No... any reason you're against the 650 wheels? They're 25.6".

I'm not against 650 rims ...

Its my second option ...
How will it affect the standover height of the frame ? (comapared to 750c - Sorry, my math is not so good ...)

It will reduce the bottom bracket height by a few cm. You may suffer pedal strike on corners so I wouldnt recomend low BB on a fixed gear.
