Which shimano 10 speed chain
My drivetrain consists of Ultegra RD, Ultegra 12-27 cassette and FSA double crankset. I can't decide whether to get a whipperman or shimano chain. My current chain is a 105 with only a few hundred miles but I just put on the larger cassette and wanted to change the chain at the same time. Should I just let it go until the chain really needs to be replaced or get something better now? I don't race, just do 40-50 mile rides on the weekends.

If the current chain is long enough to handle the new cassette, why do you need a new chain?
Answer: You don't.

I thought I responded to this earlier...server issues I guess.
Assuming you went from a 12-25 to the 12-27 you mentioned you should not HAVE to replace the chain or add links. Your current chain should be fine for many more miles.
Read here for good information about how to measure chain wear to determine replacement. When you do go to replace, you will find that all Shimano 10spd chains will work for you. Wipperman also sels Shimano specific 10spd chains. There are many reviews of all of these chains on this forum.

use the chain until it is worn. I find that I go through 10 speed chains fairly fast, around 1500-2000 miles. Go out and buy a Park Chain stretch checker.
I would recommend buying Dura Ace chains. The tolerances are so high, the extra plating on the side plates really makes a difference in shifting.
I am currently trying out the Wipperman 10S0 Nickel plated chain. So far I like it but it is a little noisier than the Shimano Dura Ace. I'll see about wear in a few weeks.

I essentially have your set up and went to a Wipperman 10 spd. and it is better than any other chain I have had. I like the SRAM 991's however but one was not available when I needed it. So the Wipperman gets the chance to prove itself!
