Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice presentation. I am sorry to see that your guy didn't make it. Neither did our guy, James Kern. He had lung problems.

You got me in one of the pre-race inspection pics. I am the guy in the green jacket messing with the recumbents.

Well, cool, Ron, pleased to meet you! Sorry to hear about James as well. Is he doing better? That heat and physical stress is plain ungodly, isn't it?

Nice job! Give you as nice feel as you can get for the RAAM experience from your couch!

Sorry that Rob and James didn't make it this year. I was down at Sebring this past February watching James rip it up on an unreal ride. Really hoping that he was going to show everyone what 'bents can do.... Conditions are everything, though. That's RAAM for ya.... Thanks again!

He is doing better, thanks. Apparently it is taking some time for the fluid in his lungs to clear up. Otherwise he is doing well.

Very interesting ... thanks for sharing! I have NO aspirations of ever attempting anything like this. Which means, that I have the HIGHEST respect for anyone who does! However, I can say that being a crew member to assist someone who has the capability and aspiration to do so would be very enjoyable.

Beautiful scenery also!

Give him my best wishes, Ron, for a quick recovery and I hope to ride aqgainst him next year, but I'll be in an 8 man bow if I can get sponsorship together.

Woodcycl, thanks for the props! Much appreciated. I see you are a fellow Hoosier! Look for me at the Hilly Hundred!

I'll be easy to spot, I ride a red Raleigh and I'll be wearing a RAAM jersey! (Not earned, I admit, but an older 2003 RAAM souvenir)
