Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bad A$$ bottle cages

i just got a pair of new cages in the mail this morning, and i absolutely love them. they are Profile Design Stryke cages, made of plastic and hold a bottle like nobodys business, but are also incredibly easy to get bottles in and out of. wow! plus they were like 6 bucks a pop. love them. just wanted to share.

I'm right there with'ya. I got one of these a while back for my Specialized, nothing fancy, not expensive, but, it's by far the best cage I have, better than my standard alums, way better than my Elites, and better than my carbon ones too. I'm actually going to REI today to see if they've got any more.

Haha Allez.Thats how I am with bodybuilding.com's store. Just order it right up and its at the door in 2 days.

Are those cages shatter proof? They look quite snazzy! I'm looking to invest...

They have it in blue?!?!?

And do you guys think it will eventually follow the path of what the dude said above in his review of the cage?

i dont know what would make it crack.....he may be over-tightening the screws. or jamming his bottles back in every time he takes a sip. eh, we'll see.

I have cages similar to those called the water bottle "kage." Got a couple of mango colored ones for $3 bucks at Nashbar. I've had them for 2-3 weeks now and so far so good.

Had them on my bike for about 2 weeks before one cracked and broke off from what was pretty normal use. Very weak plastic. Back to the metal cages I went. At least they weren't too expensive!

Right..at $4 each, I'm ordering 2 from sportsbasement. Blue matches the decals on my bike.

Thanks!

I had mine only one week before it cracked...in half...while I was riding. It may have been because of my frame flexing, not sure. Will never use them again however.

Same here, did not even torque it too much, 1 month later, there was a nice carck right through it, although for the price you pay for these, we cannot expect them to last forever.

I use these...

Cost me $2.98 a piece at pricepoint. I've been using them since mid last season with no crack problems.

Do you guys have problems with cages rubbing off designs/paint off bottles? My Blackburn Comp. which is a metal cage loves to rub off paint off the bottles.

Yeah, I've noticed this problem too! I used metal cages before, and they left big scratches and smears on my water bottles. I recently switched to the Tacx Tao cages, and I think they rub less. Of course, this could be my imagination, but I sure hope so. I got them for $10 each from probikekit.com, but they have them at a lot of websites.

I had these also (in black though), and I didn't really like them. They scratched up my Terry water bottles and I had a difficult time getting the bottles back in. I hope they work better for you!

Had 2 of these fall apart while on their first ride, mounted on an aqua rack. Profile did replace them with no questions but by the number of posts about cracking it seems they may have had more phone calls than mine about this issue.
