Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

White Arione Saddle-stupid color

hey folks,

I just got a new arione saddle in white with silver stripe in the middle. My school team bib short is red so only after a few weeks, my saddle is now pink. This drives me crazy as I had the bib washed at least 20 times before I started wearing it on this saddle. It seems that arione is using some kind of suede/leather that has the absorbent capacity of a sponge. I write this as a caveat to potential buyers of the white saddle who wear red bibs. Unless pink is your thing.....

The plus side is that an attractive twenty something brunette I met on the road told me I had sweet-looking saddle

Try a leather cleaner. An automotive one should work fine and shouldn't damage the saddle.

It's hopeless. Mine is blue from our team shorts and I've tried several leather cleaners, simple green you name it. Luckily the blue pantone looks kinda cool on my bike.

Since it's white, you could try some diluted Clorox.

Try a Mr. Clean eraser. I was a sceptic at first but those things are amazing. Get stuff out that most cleaners wont and they are cheap (I should get paid for this).

I almost swapped out my black Arione for the exact white/silver one that you have ... to match the white lettering on my new bike. Glad I didn't now. My LBS owner must have known what he was talking about when he advised against going with a white saddle.

I agree ... but I have to admit, I do like white bar tape! Just have to change it more often!

You might research how to dye the saddle black, bet the middle would stay silver. But then you might end up getting black on those pretty red bibs

This so timely. I ordered a white seat this morning. Of course I only wear black shorts.

Well at least you can't see it when you're riding.

I'm sure that makes you feel much better

I've had many white Flite saddles and they don't transfer the color like the Fizik does. I have a white saddle and and white bar tape and I keep them both very clean. It's easy to keep white bar tape clean if you stay on top of it. Also if you wear the right white bibs you won't see through them. My Castelli Ypro3's are not see through at all.
