Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My dream handlebar

It would be made of alloy so I can bolt on aero bars and for crashworthiness, 31.8mm diam and 4-bolt compatible so I can keep my current stem, flat "wing" tops for all the climbing I like to do, would work great with my Ergopower levers and would be traditional, not ergo, bend.

Does such a thing exist outside my fantasy world? I've looked at Deda, FSA, Easton, Ritchey, etc. and I haven't been able to find a combo like this.

I currently have an FSA wing pro alloy and I find my favorite position in the drops (the bottom of the bar closest to the ground) way too short for my hand.

If you're dreaming about bars, you really need to get out and ride

If you need some kind of special shape on the tops, consider cobbling together something to put under the bar tape. If you have a friend with some basic woodworking tools, cedar is incredibly light, weatherproof, and easy to work. You could cut a track for a cable, make it pointy on the other side, cut it in half, taper the outside ends, and wrap it up. Instant wings.

Interesting idea to "flatten" the tops. I think all the handlebar dreaming comes while on the indoor trainer, so you're right, so I do need to get out and ride.

mine would be light, comfortable, and reliable.

an added bonus would be that it in no way resembles the fsa k-wing
