Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bought a new (to me) bike!

2001 Bianchi XL Boron Frameset built up with Ultegra 9spd/ Open Pros on Dura-ace hubs....

I'm probably going to be selling off the components and swapping in the centaur/veloce stuff from my other bike. And right now it's a threaded headset/steel fork which will get swapped out for threadless/carbon...

Obligatgory Pics (once it's delivered i'll post my own)...I'm REALLY excited...

Wow! nice Bianchi, that's what I want for steel...gonna get me the size 53, perhaps this year's frame model or a deal if I can find it on the web. Bianchi XL Boron the best of both worlds: sweet steel ride and the stiffness needed to perform, at a weight that's just a tad more that the lightest carbon frame.

I happened to have tested this year's model two weeks ago, all I can say it was amazing. I deliberately went down the road looking for rough road sections: smooth and got snappy accelerations when pushing it, I'd wish I had clipless though, I had to pedal with the stupid plastic platforms.
