Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why not me?!

On a ride yesterday with my group of four we had three stung by bee's, wasp, and some unknown! I was the only one that did not get stung and somedays instead of asking why not me? You just say, sucks to be you today!

I hat that. On a traning ride in Holland once, a wasp went down my 1/2 unzipped jersey and stung me about 3 times before I could pin it down and crush it. Painful!!

Big itchy lumps on my chest for a week....

I pass an area where bees are raised/kept(?). I see their white wooden hives and wonder if the Africanized Honey Bee (Killer bee) has made it this far north yet....

In two of the cases the riders legs swelled and were aching. I am just glad no one had an allergic reaction. I told them I would have used my multi-tool to cut open their throats and place a pen barrel into the cut into their windpipe so they could breathe.

I got a funny look from both. I assured them I had seen this procedure on MASH and they would be fine. LMAO!

GAAAWD!About 2 yearsa ago, I got stung/bit about 6 times within one month. Twice on one ride. One bee and another..... not sure, but it hurt! I posted a thread in another forum and one peson said maybe it was that I used deodorant soap. I do take a shower before every ride.

Maybe you were the only one that hadn't bathed in a while! Did you happen to notice if anybody was hesitant to draft you?

Seriously, I heard they are attracted to the scent of the soap!
