Lance on RAGBRAI - he is here!

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lance on RAGBRAI - he is here!

Well, he is here. When I first heard he was going to attend, I didn't believe it. Nor did I believe it when it was "confirmed" in the paper. I started to come around when I saw a TV interview with him when he talked about coming to Iowa to talk with people about curing cancer. Well, he rode some of the ride yesterday, spoke last night in Newton, is riding today & will have another event today and tomorrow. Also, he said on last night when he was speaking that we would ride the whole event in '07. Amazing.

I was on ragbrai yesterday and had Lance and his entourage pass me. They are riding about twice as fast as everyone else. It's just one more thing that made an already great bike ride even more fun.

People really mob him when he stops, I can understand why he isn't stopping very much. Plus towns are only 8-15 miles apart and for him that's only a few minutes.

Hmm any chance they move this ride to PA in 07?

In light of the itiotic post I made earlier I am putting a disclaimer here that this comment is a joke, I understand this is a ride across Indiana.

That too was a joke, Iowa I know.
