Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Rider Down... sad days in GA

A local roadie was abducted and killed while riding on the SCT MUP. Our prayers are with her and her family.
Story in the local paper at
https://www.ajc.com/metro/content/met...etsuspect.html
Please be 'street wise' and observant when and where you ride.

That's just terrible. What's the world coming to when you can't ride without fearing you could be abducted and beaten to death. She's riding in a better place now.

I had read about this yesterday as it was sent out to our group email. Very sad! Is the Silver Comet Trail that isolated or is this just a "freak" incident involving someone who shouldn't have been out in the first place?!

That trail is pretty isolated in parts but I have never ever felt unsafe except in the Rockmart area. It travels through a rough neighborhood there and there are some pretty shady looking characters there. I have ridden many times in the area where the murder took place and it is always busy there. It is a really upscale area.

I don't know how anybody ever pulled this off. I think it was just a freak that deserves the same fate.

This is just awful and I feel so sorry for her family. Things like this should just never happen. It is stories like this that remind me of why I was not a very good bail bondsman. My values never let me be really enthusiastic about bailing out some 7-time carjacker or some other animal. Some people just do not belong out in society.

It would appear that some new names are going to be in my thoughts and prayers tonight.

Brian

Another note on this.....I have a lady I work with that has a family friend. Apparently the sick bastard tried to make her perform oral sex on her. Well she did.....right up to the point where she took a big bite and partially severed the offending member. The dumbarse then went to the police station and reported the injury as being caused by a prostitute who he failed to pay. He had other injuries consistent with a struggle as well. Well....the guy had probation violations and was taken for medical treatment and jailed. When the biker's body was found, there were signs of an immense struggle. The cops just added 2 + 2 and this scumbag was the answer.

May he rot in jail and burn in Hell....and oh yeah.....I hope some of the *****exual alpha male prisoners give him the same treatment!!!

This story is/ was on Headline News with Nancy Grace. She interviewed the pastor of her church. He gave out an email address where you could send thoughts and prayers and such to the family, but I didn't catch it all. Anyone else get it?

Thanks for the info! That is kind of what I was wondering? I know most MUP's are usually pretty "busy" with bikers, walkers, runners, etc. and that you don't have that much time between people, especially one that covers that much space and with so many different access areas. There is supposed to be a ride going from B'ham to ATL and the plan is to use both portions of the trail, AL and GA side, along with roads in the areas where the trail isn't complete.

The world is in a sad state.

My wife mountain bikes, I don't like mountain biking at all, but fearing her being out is the woods by herself, I have now taken up mountain biking.

I wanna throw up.

****, I hope the mother****er rot in prison. Death penalty would be way too good for him. He should spend the rest of his life as a human ********** in prison.
