Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My new bike gets closer .......!!

Well, I came downstairs this morning and my email delivers pictures of my new frame. Paint is done, the build is next and hopefully I will have it by Thursday of this week. Only thing we're waiting for right now is the wheels. I ordered some Reynolds Alta Race which are (I'm told) somewhere between Salt LAke City and Vancouver.

Funny thing is I get a follow-up email from him telling me not to worry about the pictures because he hasn't polished the clear coat yet.

Um, OK. My idea came out exactly as I wanted. Courtesy of Randy Cunningham of Cunnigham Cycles in New Westminster. I think he done good.

And for now, paint is all I have to look at. The Reynolds Wheels are delayed as are most of the Campy parts, and I'm going on vacation next week - away for three weeks.

I guess I wait a while longer.

That paint is like how Rocky Mountain paints their Team Bikes... I have always liked how that was done.

The frame is from Cunningham Cycles in Vancouver. EM2 with a Dedacciai carbon rear triangle (that's the way I specc'ed it) and as you may have guessed - RAndy does some prety spectacular custom paint as a finishing touch.

The idea was - use the colours from the old National Team jerseys, then do it like you just rode through a pile of fall time Maple Leaves and they scattered.....................
